Sin èFor a relaxing drink, try Sin è on Upper Ormond Quay. If you were worried that old Dublin pubs were becoming a thing of the past, a number of pubs have opened in the last few months with the old time Dublin feel. These pubs are opening up on the outskirts of the city centre for a more mature demographic that want to have a more chilled-out night out.
One of these pubs is Sin è, which opened for business in November, 2003. The pub is located on Upper Ormond Quay, near the Ormond Hotel, just on the fringes of Temple Bar. But the décor and feel of the bar is in stark contrast to a Temple Bar super pub. Sin-è is decked out in the simple style of an old Dublin pub, with comfortable seating at the front of the bar and a space at the back for trad sessions and DJ sets at the weekend. The bar is well lit creating a friendly, unobtrusive atmosphere, leaving the punter the chance to enjoy their drink and company in a relaxed setting.
There is a great selection of Irish American, English and European beers at the bar and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The clientele are convivial and laid-back ranging from their early '20s to their late '40s. Sin è is such a relaxing experience that you might get the feeling you are in a country pub or a Spanish pub, as you sip your drink looking out at the Liffey.
The bar features trad session from Monday to Thursday night and DJ sets on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Friday night is a jazzy, funky affair and Saturday night has a country, blues feel. For a simpler drinking atmosphere, where the pub allows you to experience a good time rather than the pub being the experience itself, try Sin è.
