The Brazen Head Inn, Bridge Street, claimed to be Dublin's oldest pub, stands close to Father Mathew Bridge. The Brazen Head Inn, Bridge Street, claimed to be Dublin's oldest pub, stands close to Father Mathew Bridge. Dating originally from the 1600's (although the present building is likely to be 18th century) it was most likely preceded by earlier taverns as its location was next to the junction of four ancient national routes.

Until recent years the clientele was mostly locals but now the legal fraternity from the Four Courts and the nearby concentration of lawyers' offices form the backbone of the regular customer base. It is still what is called a 'traditional pub' and live folk music sessions take place here.
