The International Bar

On the corner of Wicklow Street and William Street South, the International is something of an institution at this stage.

At the heart of one of the trendiest parts of the city centre, The International has seen new restaurants and bar popping up all around it over the last few years but has maintained the intimate character of an old Dublin boozer.

Like Mulligans and Grogans, The International is populated by a wonderful cross section of punters with locals rubbing shoulders with buskers and students, and office workers sneaking in on a Friday evening to kick off a night's drinking.

An intimate bar, The International is decorated with table and chairs and can fill very quickly on a weekend night making for a lively atmosphere filled with chat, gossip and drink. The staffs are friendly and pour a tasty pint of plain that is very reasonably priced for the city centre.

The International also hosts a live venue upstairs, which has been the home of Dublin's emerging comic talent for the last two decades. The International hosts Dublin's longest running comedy club, Comedy Cellar and one of the most popular comedy clubs in the city, The International Comedy Club.

The hilarious Dublin Comedy Improv can be seen plying their trade on a Monday night and music fans can check out experimental electronica and jazz with Ladybird on Sunday nights and the infectious sound of The Dirty Jazz Club on Tuesday nights.

A Dublin bar brimming with character, The International Bar is well worth a look.
