Young People's Exhibition at the National Gallery of Ireland.
The National Gallery are currently celebrating a very special anniversary. It is 150 years since the National Gallery was officially established by an Act of Parliament.
A Young People's Exhibition called “Learning from Art” will display 39 works by young people in Ireland. Kids who have participated in this exhibition are students at primary or secondary level. Each participant selected a painting from the National Gallery's collection and responded to it in some art form, whether it be prose, poetry or art.
The aim of the “Learning from Art” exhibition was to involve children in an artistic process whereby they learnt about art and art history as well as the paintings that are on show in the National Gallery.
The exhibition can be enjoyed by all ages and young kids can complete an activity sheet as they walk around this exciting exhibition. A colour-illustrated catalogue with essays by artists, writers, poets and educators will accompany the exhibition.
'Learning from Art' is supported by Esso Ireland and the Department of Education and Science and runs for a month beginning on the 10th September and running until the 10th October. Admission for adults and kids to the “Learning for Art” exhibition is free.
