Public Shakespeare have been bringing Shakespeare to the public free of charge since 2000. This year, it's the turn of The Taming of The Shrew, one of the Bard's greatest farces.
It tells the story of two beautiful sisters who couldn't be more different. Gentle Bianca has no shortage of suitors, but her father insists she can't wed until her sister Katharina is betrothed. Unfortunately, no man in town is brave enough to attempt to win shrewish Kate's heart. So Bianca's rich suitors decide put their money where their hearts are and bribe roguish out-of-towner Petruchio to court Kate so that they can pursue Bianca for themselves. What could possibly go wrong?
Public Shakespeare have brought their own twists to this familiar tale, so be prepared for a fun-filled, fast paced comedy featuring cat fights, Irish dancing, hunchbacks, ghetto blasters, gold diggers, hopeless romantics and MC Hammer all topped off with hint of golf.
