After last year's success, the festival returns with a stunning array of events around Dublin from Sunday 26th of June to Sunday, the 3rd of July.
The first Walton's Guitar Festival of Ireland electrified the Dublin music scene with performances by John Williams, Pierre Bensusan, Berta Rojaz and Allan Neave.
This year's line-up is equally impressive with performances by top international and Irish classical and jazz guitarists as well as a stellar line-up of steel string exponents.
The festival includes a return visit by one of the world's greatest classical guitarists, John Williams in the company of multi-instrumentalist, Richard Harvey. This wonderful programme also includes performances by legendary Australian guitar virtuoso, Tommy Emmanuel, Chinese classical sensation, Xuefei Yang and renowned classical guitarist, David Russell.
The wealth of talented Irish guitar playing is represented by performances by our leading exponent of the classical guitar, John Feeley, world-renowned jazz luminary, Louis Stewart and the traditional legend, Arty McGlynn. Preston Reed will be demonstrating his wonderfully innovative brand of blues, rock and jazz and world-class acoustic guitarist John Goldie will be merging the worlds of celtic, jazz and funk.
The varied programme will includes free open-air lunchtime concerts around the city centre and the open-air screening of three guitar-inspired films, Sweet and Low Down, Flamenco and a documentary celebrating the work of Rory Gallagher. An integral part of the festival is the comprehensive Guitar Summer School, which comprises daily tuition, lectures and workshops, based at Trinity College.
A treasure throve for lovers of the guitar, Walton's Guitar Festival of Ireland takes place from the 26th of June to the 3rd of July.
