Far away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre lays a quiet little pub in an old area of Dublin called Stoneybatter. Walshes is a traditional pub located just around the corner from Smithfield and up the road from the legal surroundings of Blackhall. Walshes has the feel of an old Dublin with a main bar that is still mainly populated by older men and a large lounge area, which takes much of the younger crowd. The décor of the bar has a distinctive '70s feel with all manner of interesting historic paraphernalia and pictures decked around the bar.
Stoneybatter has become a very trendy area in the last few years and the locals and the blowins happily imbibe together in the comfortable surroundings of the bar. The lazy, relaxed ambience of this bar has the feel of a country pub and some of the prices are close to what you might pay down the country. Walshes serve a wide range of beers, a lovely pint of Guinness and all at very affordable prices. The staff are very friendly and very quick to get your order and if you drink there enough times they will probably remember what it is.
Forget what you read anywhere else Walshes is the really traditional Dublin pub experience synonymous with great conversation, infectious laughter and an understated but lively atmosphere. To find a real authentic Dublin experience you might just have to go off the beaten track and a night in Walshes is well worth a short journey.
