Located on the Quays beside the Four Courts, thebar is a stylish Dublin pub and bar with a good music policy.
Also known as the Legal Eagle, thebar is run by The Bar Company. This company run Dublin bars on behalf of owners who don't want the hassle themselves, and they currently have four venues on their books: The Chancery Inn, The Belvedere, the Thomas House and thebar.
Like the Thomas House, the general idea at thebar is for management to take care of that all-important aspect of creating an atmosphere which is providing the booze, and they leave the other aspect, the music, to the DJs. The right music draws the right crowd, and the crowd create the atmosphere. And like the Thomas House before it, this approach certainly works at thebar.
From the outside it looks like a very sober affair, where one might expect to find lawyers in hushed conversation.
Step inside and it is a very different affair: a young, trendy crowd having a good time, and great DJs on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays nights.
