Situated in the very trendy environs of Wexford Street, Solas is a low-key funky modern pub. Just up the street from Whelans and The Village, Solas clientele is mainly made up of young Dublin suburbanites looking for the party atmosphere of a big bar with the friendliness of a more intimate establishment.

Solas came on the Dublin pub scene in the '90s as the Modern Green Bar, a pub with comfortable seating, a stylish lengthy bar and a DJ set up to create a cool musical ambience on a weekend night. The bar recently rebranded to Solas but the style and feel of the bar thankfully has pretty much stayed the same.

Solas makes for a very chilled out night's drinking during the week but at the weekend it can get a little cramped due to the narrowness of the bar. But the people in the bar seem to be a very relaxed bunch of punters who are out for a good time and don't mind. They have a great range of drinks at a very reasonable price and their music selection tends to be a heady concoction of funk, jazz and soul music.
