Davy Byrnes

Now at least Davy Byrnes was actually mentioned in Ulysses, so it has
some proper claim to that dubious Dublin moniker 'literary pub' and
there's good food to be had.
This pub also figures highly on this hungry hack's list when meeting people for lunch for (a) it's in a great location and (b) it serves quality grub. It differentiates itself from the competition (specifically The Duke across the road by specializing in seafood. You'll find a great salmon sandwich here, not to mention the great oysters knocked back with a few Guinness. You'll look like a tourist, but that's no bar to happiness.
It doesn't operate a carvery, but table-service instead. The menu consists of steaks, shepherds pie, omelettes, chicken breast and of course seafood. This is served from midday until 8 from Monday to Thursday, up to about 6/6.30 on Friday and until 7 at the weekend.
Byrnes is a bright, airy pub that's the perfect antidote to whatever smoky den you were in last night. So for daytime recovery, it's a good bet.
