Holiday On Ice
60 years running and 300,000,000 visitors, the Holiday On Ice show is coming to Dublin's Point Theatre October 9th to 12th.

Holiday On Ice was created in 1943 by Carl Snyder and Donn Arden of Toledo, Ohio. It was named Holiday on Ice because the first performance took place during the Christmas holidays. In the 60 years since then, the show has visited 620 cities in 80 different countries around the world. In 1988, the show made the Guinness Book of Records for its 250,000,000th audience member, making it the most attended show in history. In the spring of this year, they will sell their 300,000,000th ticket. In 60 years, that is an average of 5 million tickets a year!

These extraordinary figures are made possible because they have three or four different shows running simultaneously in different countries. The show that will be visiting Ireland this October is called Celebration, a tip of the hat to parties of all kinds form the elegance of the Venetian Masquerade to funky 70's Discos and Rio's glamorous Carnivale.

Celebration's choreographer and creative director is Robin Cousins, Olympic Gold Medallist for Free Skating in 1980 and three times World Champion. In a professional career that spanned twenty years, Cousins has performed countless roles on stage and Ice, including lead parts in Cats and The Rocky Horror Show. He as also choreographed numerous ice-shows, including the last four Holiday On Ice productions, The Colours of Dance, In Concert, Celebration, and Hollywood.

Now approaching its 60th year, Holiday On Ice has thrilled audiences of all ages on five continents. This is a skating extravaganza not to be missed.


All shows are at the Point Theatre at 7.30 pm from the 9th to the 12th of October; there will also be a 2.30 pm show on Saturday 11th.
