Ian Pooley, one of the most popular house DJs in the business, plays Stereotonic at Wax on Saturday, the 27th of January.

With a series of pioneering singles for German techno label, Forced Inc. and a number of critically acclaimed albums, Ian Pooley has made his way to the very top of international producers and DJs.

Hailing from Mainz in Germany, Ian Pooley began collecting records and DJing in his teens influenced by the classis Detroit sound of Derrick May and Juan Atkins. Pooley joined forces with DJ Tonka to form T'N'I, releasing EPs on one of the premiere labels for futuristic techno, Force Inc.

In 1994, Pooley became a solo artist and continued to release critically acclaimed EPs on Force Inc. like Twin Gods and The Celtic Cross as well as the singles, "Rollerskate Disco" and "The Chord Memory". Pooley collected his first steps into house music with his debut album, The Times in 1996 while providing remixes for Dee-Lite, Yello and The Cardigans.

Signed to V2, Pooley released the Meridian in 1998 mixing up deep house and Detroit Techno on tracks like "What's Your Number?", "Followed" and "Disco Love" and followed up with the critically acclaimed Since Then album creating a heady brew of disco, techno and Brazilian music with floor fillers like "Coracao Tambor" and "900 Degrees".

Many of his recent releases like Excursions, Souvenirs and A Subterranean Soundtrack deliver impressive proof of his openness to all forms of quality dance music and his DJ mixes show that Pooley is still a DJ by heart.

After parting company with V2, Pooley set up his own label, Pooled and began recording his new album in the sunny climes of New Zealand and Australia continuing the Brazilian flavoured sounds of Since Then in the company of Brazilian bossa nova mastermind, Marcos Valle and soul legend, Terry Callier.

A night of infectious beats and sunny tunes, Ian Pooley plays Stereotonic at Wax on Saturday, the 27th of January.
