Everyman Palace may be one of Cork's top theatres, but this summer they're decamping to the REAL real capital for the premiere of their latest production, Patrick Talbot's brilliant new political play Rita Dunne.
Inspired by recent events, the play is fictitious look at how the country's leading political family handles a scandal. It's a gripping portrait
of family loyalty, political scandal and personal freedom, centred around Taoiseach Willie Dunne's estranged wife Rita. They may have been separated for years but Rita's identity is still very much defined by her relationship with the country's leading man.
But when political scandal threatens, Rita finds herself torn between loyalty to the father of her daughter and the prospect of finally finding real independence for herself. Can a Taoiseach in scandal really set her free?
With a superb cast, and a fantastic script, Rita Dunne is a brilliant and timely play, sure to make audiences nationwide laugh, cry and - most importantly - think! Everyman Palace will be bringing the play home to Cork on 21st July, so don't miss you chance to catch in here first.
