Based on a short story from master-of-terror Stephen King, 1408 tells the story of supernatural writer and confirmed sceptic Mike Enslin (John Cusack). Mike is obsessed with the paranormal, but after years of investigation into the "other side" he's found nothing. Then he receives a postcard of the Dolphin Hotel, New York City, bearing the words "DON'T ENTER 1408" - a piece of advice he decides to ignore, especially when he hears stories of the 56 deaths that have occured there. Determined to research the room and disprove the rumours surrounding it, Mike decides to spend the night in room 1408 - despite warnings from hotel manager Mr. Olin (Samuel L Jackson) that no one else has lasted more than an hour.
