You know that old adage that guys and girls can never really be "just good friends", that of them always secretly fancies the other one? Well how's this for a dilly of a pickle? Tom (Patrick Dempsey) is in love his "just good friend" Hannah (Michelle Monaghan). Secretly, of course. So, secretly, in fact, that even HE doesn't realise it until she's sent to Scotland for a six-week business trip and Tom finds a big "love of my life"-shaped hole where his best mate used to be. Which, for a man who's sowed more wild oats than an organic porridge-flake factory, is a tad unexpected (to say the least.)

Still, he decides to do the right thing, give up his playboy ways and make an honest women of Hannah once and for all. Unfortunately, this plan is ever-so-slightyly scuppered when he discovered Hannah has fallen for a sexy scottish guy. Worse still, she's planning on marrying him and moving to Scotland. And even worse than THAT, she's just asked him to be her "maid of honour". What's a reformed ladies man to do?

Well, in Tom's case, act flattered, take the role, help the love of his life plan her wedding to another man .... then crank his romantic charm and evil scheming sides all the way up to eleven and figure out a way to ruin the wedding, woo the bride and live happily ever after himself!

Made of Honour is the lastest romantic comedy to star Grey's Anatomy Patrick Dempsey, who was last seen wooing a fairytale princess in Enchanted. The plot may seem ever so slightly familiar (I'm thinking 1997, I'm thinking Julia Roberts, I'm thinking painful karaoke numbers ... ) but then, it could be argued that Jane Austen nicked all the original rom-com storylines back in the 1800's and we've been rehashing them ever since.

Whichever way you look at it humour, romance and chemistry between the leads are the key elements to any romantic comedy - and, fortunately, Made of Honour has plenty of those! Michelle Monaghan has been wowing cinema-goers in the know since her sparkling break-through performance in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, while Patrick Dempsey has left those dodgy 80s flick well and truly behind him in recent years to become a bonafide sex-symbol.

Romantic comedies tend to fall the category of either "love-hate / battle-of-the-sexes", or "almost scarily obsessive girl mooning over man of her dreams" so it makes a nice change to see the guy does all the chasing for once. Just one question - when it's Dr. McDreamy in pursuit, who'd be silly enough to run?
