Dermot Carmody's Electric Gazette
Dermot Carmody's Electric Gazette, a multimedia comedy cabaret, premieres at The Sugar Club on Friday the 14th of May and Saturday the 15th of May. Irish comedy pioneer and son of a Church of Ireland clergyman, Dermot Carmody is promoting his groundbreaking show of music, stand-up and computer animation with an evangelical zeal worthy of his father.

Along with Ardal O'Hanlon, Barry Murphy and Kevin Gildea, Carmody co-founded Ireland's longest-running comedy club, The Comedy Cellar in Dublin's International Bar. He spent the mid '90s in London where he became a regular on the UK circuit gigs like London's Comedy Store. Carmody is also a talented improviser and is a member of the critically acclaimed Dublin Comedy Improv.

In the late '90s, Carmody immersed himself in the growing phenomenon of the Internet. Carmody appeared in a Los Angeles comedy club via an Internet linkup from his Dublin flat and was even heckled by Norm from Cheers in the process. Carmody developed the satirical website 2irish.com with Morgan Jones and the duo were also responsible for 60 episodes of a radio spin-off, 2irish.com Shortwave Audio News. In 2003, Carmody made a welcome return to live performance and now his ready to shake up the status quo with his innovative new show, Electric Gazette.
