Short Order
A highly entertaining and darkly humourous drama about a Short Order Chef and a collage of colourful characters.
Short Order centres on a Short Order cook named Fifi Koko (Emma de Caunes) who is working the nightshift in Ishmael's greasy grill bar. Fifi is a culinary expert with great talent but has lost her great passion for creating gastronomic delights. A licentious Felix (John Hurt) is trying to persuade Fifi to work for him in his high street eaterie.
Short Order is a cinematic collage of colourful characters, each with their own individual and interesting philosophy. During the course of one night, the audience will encounter an array of personalities with different professions from restaurant proprietors, food critics, delivery people, prostitutes to master chefs.
Fifi's sidekick and colleague, Catherine (Cosma Shiva Hagen) takes part in a chat show when she delivers an order to a customer. A Russian prostitute (Tatianna Ouliankina-Fair City), then asks Catherine for a lift and her night culminates with words of wisdom from a philosophical old dame (Vanessa Redgrave) in a bar.
Back at Ishmael's, Fifi's neighbour Paulo and the proprietor of The Meditteraneo is plotting with his mute assistant revenge on a customer they believe to be a notorious restaurant bill dodger. In actual fact, this mysterious diner is a food critic (Jack Dee) who has come to sample Paulo's special dish with an extra special (human!) ingredient.
