This Saturday marks the Dublin premiere Pope Fiction - the smart and side-splittingly satirical Irish short that's been making waves at this year's Cannes Short Film Festival (and generating serious interest from some foreign distributors too)!
Inspired in equal parts by Monty Python's Life of Brian, Father Ted and Il Papa himself (no, that's not a film, I mean the actual Pope), the film tells the story of beautiful angel Magdalene Monroe who discovers JC is returning to judge us all, and decides to tell Il Papa. But with the cunning Cardinal Cornuto twisting the Popes perspective, commanding The Provisional Illuminati and toting an Angel-Killer 666, Magdalene soon discovers that her only hope for salvation lies with everyone's favourite rock'n'roll saints - The Beables (John, Paul, George and Moses). But will they interrupt their game of golf to rescue her?
Shot on-location at the suitably gothic Bram Stoker's Dracula Experience (where it's set to premiere) Pope Fiction promises to be the sharpest and down-right silliest almost-sixteen minutes to grace Dublin screens in a long time.
