Hedda Gabler
Playing at the Abbey Theatre from 29th September- 1st October.

For three nights only, Hedda Gabler will be presented at the Abbey Theatre as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival. This is a German production and it will mark the 100th anniversary since the great Henrik Ibsen's death.

Hedda Gabler is regarded as one of Ibsen's most powerful plays. When first published in 1891, Hedda Gabler was criticised and experienced negative reviews. Subsequently the reaction to this dark and revolutionary play changed and Ibsen's Hedda Gabler has since been considered one of the classics example of realism and nineteenth century theatre.

Schaubuhne Am Lehniner Platz Theatre Company will produce Ibsen's play as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival. Director Thomas Ostermeier who has been  described as the "hottest young German director" will recreate this production with a modern slant.

The play is set in a hyper-modern apartment and is said to brillantly draw on the raw emotional core of the play to a devastating effect.
