The Marriage of Figaro is arguably opera's greatest comedy. Scandal, intrigue, wild excitement and a roller coaster of emotions combine in a plot that is littered with unexpected twists - the only thing that is missing is murder! And then there's the music - one great Mozart moment after another!
Armonico Consort's production is set in the fabulous fifties, bringing the colour and vitality of this sophisticated era to the stage. In an interpretation
reminiscent of Gosford Park, Armonico Consort presents The Marriage of Figaro in an era where titles, class and position meant everything - and where the excitement of scandal and intrigue was felt upstairs and below stairs in the great houses of England. Showcasing the talents of some world class singers on the opera and classical music scene, this production promised to be fast-moving, pacy, sexy and funny - a great, great night at the theatre!
