Perchance to Dream is a fantastic production of scenes from five Shakespearean plays. The highly acclaimed Footsbarn Travelling Theatre Company have created a colourful and highly entertaining interpretation of Shakespeare's most popular plays.
Footsbarn is an internationally renowned theatre company having travelled to all six Continents performing many classic plays.This accomplished theatre company will perform Perchance to Dream as part of the Dublin Docklands Shakespeare Festival.
Perchance to Dream is set in the spectacular surroundings of a purpose built 500-seater marquee tent afloat in Georges Docks which evokes the ideal atmosphere for a Shakespearean performance. The actors are multi-talented playing instruments, singing, dancing and bring an international feel to Shakespeare by speaking their lines at times in different languages.
Perchance to Dream is a collaboration with writer and translator, Andre Markowicz and Footsbarn theatre company . This ambitious piece of theatre incorporates modern day themes and issues while remaining true to traditional Shakespeare.
Perchance to Dream includes scenes from Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Macbeth, King Lear and Hamlet in the performance. The four seasons and the seven ages of man are used as the base of the play proving it to be a very intricate and stimulating performance.
This collage of extracts reply to one another and celebrate theatre in all it's forms. All sorts of circus acrobatics, masks and even shadow theatre is included. Perchance to Dream moves smoothly between Shakespearean plays with innovative music, sound and stage effects.
