The Bohemian Girl @ The RDS
Michael William Balfe's Ring Trilogy comes to a close on 29th June, just in time for his 200th birthday! Tickets on sale from 8th May.

The Bohemian Girl
by Michael William Balfe
Venue: The RDS
Time: 15.30
Tickets: €35 (on sale from 8th May)

Conducted by Proinnsías Ó Duinn.

In 2006, The RDS celebrated it's 275th anniversary with a stunning performance of the opera Maritana, the first in Michael William Balfe's Irish Ring Trilogy. In 2007, they continued the celebrations with the second opera in the trilogy Lily of Killarney. Now they're bringing the festivities to a close with the trilogy's final show, The Bohemian Girl. The performance is especially significant as 2008 also marks the 200th anniversary of Michael William Balfe's birth.

The opera's all-Irish cast will be headed by soprano Ailish Tynan and tenor Robin Tritschler, with top-notch support from the likes of  Fiona Murphy, John Molloy, Damian Smith, Paul McNamara, Our Lady's Choral Society and the RDS Opera Orchestra.

In addition to the performance, there'll be exhibition of Balfe memorabilia on display in the RDS Library, courtesy of archivist and researcher Derek Walsh, who'll be on hand before the performance and during the intervals to discuss some of pieces.

And if you fancy a bite to eat after the performance, why not treat yourself to after-show opera buffet in the Members' Club from 18.00? The buffet costs €39.95, and it's the perfect way to wind up this great day out.

Tickets for The Bohemian Girl go on sale on 8th May. You can book online, or by calling the booking office on 0818 300 207.
