Every Tuesday night since Septermber 1996, artistes from every corner of Dublin, Ireland and beyond have been performing at the Battle of the Axe, making it one of the most consitent open mic shows in the capital.

New and experienced acts such as Stand-Up Comedians, Singer/Songwrtiers, Musicians, Sketch Performers, Actors, Clowns, Magicians and Poets battle it out for the weekly No. ! spot, The coveted Lucky Duck Award (a plastic statuette of a duck) and Certificate voted by an audience of local Dubs, excited students and bemused tourists.

As in most open mic nites, the acts can either be a revelation or possible be the most unforgettable mess you have ever seen. But there is great fun to be had from both opitions and the Battle of the Axe has a reputation for leaving the audience crying out for more.

A great night of fun and high jinx, and you get to decided which budding artist gets the ducky, Battle of the Axe is well worth a look.
