WARNING: COMEDY OVERLOAD!!
Crawdaddy's a hotbed of hilarity on May 22nd, with The Diet of Worms, Pappy's Fun Club and Maeve Higgins. This could get dangerously funny!

Pappy's Fun Club
with Maeve Higgins and Diet of Worms
Venue: Crawdaddy, Harcourt Street
Date: 22nd May
Time: 20.30
Tickets: €16.50

Argh! What's a poor Dublinks.com comedy writer to do? First I'm told The Diet of Worms are playing Crawdaddy.
Great, I think, The Diet are pretty much the masters of surreal sketch-show comedy. Like a younger, more Irish Monty Python.  Funniest thing I've seen in ages! Of course I'll post a listing for them. Maybe I can blag free tickets. (not that we ever, ever do that a Dublinks.com, of course).

THEN, I find out they're being joined by none other than Maeve Higgins, who's performed at huge festivals all over the world and is also a rather major Irish TV star courtesy of her role in RTE's Naked Camera.
Cool, I think, One of Ireland's top sketch troupes joined by one of Ireland's funniest female comedians. That's a great line-up. Two-for-the-price of one. Hurrah!!

But then, THEN I hear they're going to be joined by none other than the amazing, all-singing, all-dancing, seriously side-splitting hilarious comedy sketch troupe Pappy's Fun Club, who are flying over from the UK to be there. And suddenly I find myself in a bit of pickle! I mean, yes, they're all brilliant. Yes, Pappy's Fun Club were nominated for the prestigious IF. award at the 2007 Edinbirgh Festival for their ridiculously skewed take on history, mythology and the battle between good and evil. And yes, I really do think you should all try to catch these shows live, cos it's guaranteed to be a great night out. But all together? Now that's a genuine moral quandary!

I mean, could I live with the fallout of split sides, dislocated heads, severe jaw aches and possiblity that you laugh so much you choke on your own beer?  Do I bury the listing and hope nobody hears about the gig. Or do I go ahead, tell you all just how amazingly, surreally silly all this acts are and then suggest you all actually go to the gig?

Or, the third option, do I write up a slightly rambling, stream of consciousness preview that lets you know that, yes, these guys are funny but falls just short actually telling you to go so I don't have to feel any personal responsibility for fits-of-hysterics related injuries?

Hmmm, I'll think about that.

In the meantime, if you DO want to go, try taking out some personal injury insurance and then booking your tickets online, or at Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
