The Dublin Comedy Improv have been finessing their wonderful brand of improvisational comedy since 1992 and in that time have developed a very sophisticated and entertaining show.

The Dublin Comedy Improv features stars of the Comedy Improv Radio Show and the RTÉ hit comedy show Stew, Tara Flynn, Paul Tylak and Ian Coppinger alongside regular guests Charlie Franz, Dermot Whelan, Kevin Gildea and Karl Spain. They are all talented comedians and improvise together in the effortless manner of seasoned professionals.

The show I witnessed started with the performers starting a comic dialogue and then freezing so another comedian could take their place and change the course of the conversation. Then they took prompts from the audience for TV, Theatrical and Film styles and told a story in the style of an Australian soap, an old Irish play and a Horror story.

The Dublin Comedy Improv are experts at breaking up an experience or a train of thought to allow their comic imaginations improvise in the moment and they came up with some very funny material in the process. The audience were practically rolling in the aisles for the night and thoroughly enjoyed the Improv's hilarious shenanigans.

I was very impressed with the standard of improvisation and the comedic talent on the stage and would advise anyone with an interest in comedy to check out the Dublin Comedy Improv. You won't regret it.
