Declan O'Rourke - New Year's Eve Party
Ring in the New Year in the very engaging company of Declan O'Rourke joined by his band and friends at Vicar Street on Saturday, the 31st of December.

Fresh from his nationwide tour in November including another sold out show at the Olympia Theatre, Declan O'Rourke is staging one of the New Year Eve parties of 2005.

With a star-studded line-up featuring The Guggenheim Grotto, Steve Wickham, Roesy, Gavin Glass and Fiach Moriarty, O'Rourke will be performing a number of his most popular songs along with a host of old favourites straight through midnight and into the early hours of 2006.

One of the most gifted songwriters to appear on the music scene in the last few years, Declan O'Rourke start playing after he was given a guitar at the age of ten, by a priest in Kyabram who recognised his potential and love for music.

Fast forward a few years and O'Rourke has put all the music knowledge he has picked up in the meantime into his debut album, Since Kyabram a collection of heartfelt songs with infectious tunes like "No Brakes", "Galileo" and "Everything Is Different".

Since Kyabram was so eagerly anticipated, it entered the official Irish album charts at Number 5, quickly went gold and then achieved platinum status. The album built up the young songwriter a cult audience around Ireland with musical luminaries like Ronnie Wood, Paul Brady and Eddie Reader praising the record.

Since releasing his debut, O'Rourke has completed two sell-out nationwide tours, picked up three nominations in the Meteor Awards and won the Best Debut Album in the Hot Press Reader's Poll of 2005.

A talented guitarist and arranger, O'Rourke's musical talents have been in big demand with performances on Paddy Casey's Living and Sharon Shannon's Diamond Mountain Sessions. O'Rourke also featured in the second and third TV series of Other Voices and played with his musical heroes with supports for Planxty and Bob Dylan.

An excellent way to break in the New Year, Declan O'Rourke & Co. play Vicar Street on the 31st of December.
