The Frank and Walters, Cork Indie popsters, play Whelans on Saturday, the 11th of December.
The Frank and Walters came on the music scene in the early '90 with such wonderful songs like "Fashion Crisis Hits New York" and "After All". They have just released their fourth album, Glass and will be showcasing all new songs in Whelans on the 11th.
The Frank and Walters were formed in their native Cork in 1990 comprising the musical talents of Paul Linehan on bass and vocals, his brother Niall on guitar and Ashley Keating on drums. The band signed to the Setanta label in 1991 and their first three releases, EP1, EP2 and EP3 all made single of the Week in the NME and the Melody Maker.
The Frank and Walters signed to the Go! Discs label and decamped to the recording studio with producer Edwyn Collins to record their "Happy Busman" EP. The following year saw the release of their debut album Trains, Boats and Planes and the album went flying up the album charts. The band toured the UK supported by Radiohead and Suede and had one Noel Gallagher working with them as their guitar roadie.
If somehow overcome by their success, it took The Frank and Walters four years before they released the following up to their debut album, Grand Parade with Beauty Becomes More Than Life coming three years later. Their new album, Glass is one their most accomplished album to date featuring perfectly crafted pop songs like "New York" and "Underground".
