Held every Tuesday night, The Ruby Sessions is an acoustic night held for the benefit of the Simon Community, at Doyle's on College Street.
The Ruby Sessions started out over four years ago, on the 2nd April 1999, bringing four singer-songwriters together for an intimate, candle-lit evening of music. The aim was to bring in both promising new acts and established artists, and in their time they have given stage a long list of very talented musicians, including some of the best on the Irish scene such as Gemma Hayes, David Kitt, Mundy, Paddy Casey and Damien Rice.
More recently they took to the road, touring Ireland with a line-up that included Rodrigo y Gabriela, Neosupervital, Keith Moss and Suzanne Rhatigan, and saw the release of an album, simply called Ruby Sessions, recorded by twelve musicians from the regular sessions.
On top of that, all of the profits go to the Dublin Simon Community, to help the homeless.
