Denis Leary, the hilarious American comedian, plays The Point Theatre on Saturday, the 24th of September.
Bulmers Comedy Festival have really pulled it out of the bag by securing a live performance from one of the funniest men in comedy, Denis Leary.
Denis Leary has laid down his very successful acting career to return to his first love, stand-up comedy and this performance in the capitol will be eagerly awaited by Dublin comedy fans.
Denis Leary came on the comedy scene in the late '80s with a wonderful rant about REM on MTV. The son of Irish immigrants, Leary studied at Emerson College where he set up a Comedy Workshop and thought comedy writing classes for five years. Sprung on to the comedy boom of the late '80s, Leary immediately caused a sensation with a toxic brand of rant infused comedy.
In 1990, Leary brought his one-man show No Cure For Cancer to the Edinburgh International Arts Festival and won the Critics Award and the BBC Festival Recommendations. The show subsequently moved to New York and became a huge hit, the novelty song "I'm An A**hoe" became a college radio favourite, a No Cure For Cancer album and film followed and Denis Leary became a star.
Hollywood came looking for his hilarious, sardonic persona and Leary became a popular character actor with roles in The Matchmaker, The Virgin Suicides, Wag The Dog and Demolition Man. Leary also featured in animated films as the tiger, Diego in Ice Age and Francis in A Bug's Life and has excelled in the starring role of the gritty TV drama, Rescue Me.
Who knows what has been annoying Leary over the last decade, this hilarious concert at the Bulmers Comedy Festival will reveal all.
