Bulmers International Comedy Festival presents Ed Byrne at the Olympia Theatre on Sunday, the 17th of September
Over the last decade Ed Byrne's career has witnessed a meteoric rise in the world of international comedy.
Now the Irish comedian brings it all back home for the third Bulmers International Comedy Festival with a new show exploring the adventures of an ordinary man at war with the everyday world and hsi first every stand up DVD Ed Byrne - Pedantic and Whimsical due out this August.
A comedic intelligence that finds the funniest and ridiculous facets of everyday life, Byrne's devastating one-liners have hit home with audiences all around the globe. Now Ed Byrne returns to his native city for a concert at the Bulmers International Comedy Festival.
Ed Byrne was born in Dublin in 1972 and moved to Glasgow in 1990 to study at Strathclyde University. In Glasgow Byrne found his vocation in comedy but gigs were thin on the ground so he opened his own comedy club. This early sign of Byrnes unbound energy and indomitable enthusiasm would see him quickly rise through the ranks of British comedy.
In 1994, Byrne moved to London, began doing the rounds of the comedy club circuit and winning a large comedy following. In the next year he began his longstanding relationship with the Edinburgh Comedy Festival as part of the Irish comedy line-up, "Young, Gifted and Green".
Ed Byrne broke into the international comedy circuit with appearance at the Adelaide Festival, the Last Laugh in Melbourne, the New Zealand Comedy Festival and the US Comedy Arts Festival.
A well-known face on TV, Ed Byrne has appearanced on The Stand Up Show, The Comedy Store, The Father Ted Christmas Special, six appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, his own show on RTÈ, Just For Laughs and the very funny comedy show, The Panel.
Ed Byrne is one of the among the most successful comedians in the UK, the fast selling performer at the Edinburgh Fringe and his solo stand-up tours, Psychobabble, A Night at the Opera, On The Road and last year's Me Again are always complete sell outs.
Guaranteed to be a night of rib-tickling hilarity, Ed Byrne plays the Olympia Theatre on the 17th of September.
