Jackie Mason
Jackie Mason, legendary American stand-up, plays Vicar Street on Sunday, the 18th and Monday, the 19th of June

Jackie Mason returns to Vicar Street for what promises to be another sell-out performance with his brand new show, Freshly Squeezed.

In the last decade, Jackie Mason is best known for his sterling performance as Krusty the Clown's estranged rabbi father. Raised in Lower Manhattan, Mason's father was a rabbi as well and the comedian was ordained before realising that his true calling was in comedy.

Jackie Mason quickly rose through the ranks of the American comedy circuit in the early '60s when other great comedians from the Jewish community like Lenny Bruce, Mort Sahl and Woody Allen were making their mark.

As one of the hottest talents in the country, Mason became a regular performer on The Ed Sullivan Show before a misunderstanding during a live performance in 1962 saw the comedian fall out of favour with O'Sullivan casting a shadow over his career for a decade.

During his time in she showbiz wilderness, Mason perfected his craft becoming one of the most gifted comedians when it came to the use of language and comic irony. There is a wonderful rhythm to his gruff New York accent and Mason can turn everyday situations and complex sets of ideas inside out to arrive at an inspired and surprising punch line.

In 1984, the world finally sat up and recognised his comic genius with the success of his one man show, The World According to Me. Two decades of hits shows, Tony Awards, Emmy countless tours and a host of glowing reviews have made Mason one of the premiere comedic talents in America.

For his new show, Freshly Squeezed will bring his usually mix of insightful political satire and insightful observations on the foibles of everyday life and is guaranteed to be a night you will never forget.

Jackie Mason's performance in Vicar Street the 18th and 19th will sell out very quickly, so get your ticket now and enjoy a night of fun with a comic master.
