Al Murray
Al Murray The Pub Landlord makes a welcome return to Vicar Street on Saturday, the 25th of June.

One wonders how an English institution like Al Murray's Pub Landlord would go down with an Irish audience.

The last time the comedian hit Vicar Street with his new show, …And Another Thing it only took him a few minutes to warm to the audience and get those comic juices, which might come in the shape of a few pints of bitter, flowing.

With a glint in his eye, Murray would ask members for their names and mischievously replied to a number of very Irish appellations like Sinead, Tara and Fiachra that they sounded like great Saxon names.

Using a bar that can be driven around the stage with taps that can actually pour beer, Al Murray lovingly recreates the kind of little Englander views of a very biased landlord treating his audience like his pub punters and regaling them with his obnoxious and hilarious opinions on students, France and beer.

Although Al Murray has become a very popular comedian from his sitcom, Time Gentlemen Please, …And Another Thing shows that he learned a lot from his time with Harry Hill as he is able to pick out a host of audience members, give them characters and piece together a hectic show, weaving together a wide range of hilarious themes.

For a man whose only mission is to put the Great back into Great Britain, Al Murray went down very well with an Irish audience and seemed to be relishing the positive vibes from his fans, although a few punters did not realise that it was a joke and tried to give him an Irish history lesson.

But Al was well able for it and delivered two hours of hilarious comedy topped off with a questions and answer session where fans got to ask Al questions to what proved to be very funny replies. Now you can't be that kind of good value and top class service.

A man who can roll out the laughs and a few barrels for good measure, Al Murray The Pub Landlord plays Vicar Street on the 25th.
