Claddagh Records is situated on 2 Cecilia Street in Temple Bar. The shop has been recently refurbished with Eoghan Davis, Finbar Boyle and Martin Nolan behind the counter to help with any queries on artists you might be looking for. Claddagh Records has been a landmark in Temple Bar for the last two decades and has been the source for music fans throughout the country for the most exciting music happening in the trad/folk world.
Claddagh Records was set up as a record label in 1959 by Garech Browne and recorded many of the classic traditional music albums of the last five decades. Claddagh Records recorded such great artists as The Chieftains, Tommy Potts and Seamus Ennis. The record shop Claddagh Records opened for business in 1984 as an outlet for Claddagh recordings and other folk releases. The shop was set up by Tom Sherlock and mainly specialised in Irish traditional music but also stocked a wide range of English and American folk music as well.Back then the shop mainly dealt with cassettes and albums but now it almost exclusively deals with CDs.
Eoghan has broadened Tom's interest in American roots music, British folk and Irish traditional music to encompass jazz, blues, country, bluegrass, reggae and contemporary folk. Claddagh Records have just put out two excellent albums the Seamus Heaney, Liam O'Flynn -The Poet & The Piper and The Tap Room Trio showcasing the best in young Irish traditional talent.
