Dianne Reeves - Waltons World Masters
Dianne Reeves, renowned American jazz vocalists, plays the National Concert Hall on Saturday, the 22nd of April.

One of the world's pre-eminent jazz vocalists, Dianne Reeves comes to the capitol in the company of two of jazz's finest guitarists, Russell Malone and Romero Lubambo showcasing songs from her new album Strings Attached.

 

One of the richest seams in jazz music is the combination of the versatility and range of the female voice with the rich range of musical possibilities in a great jazz arrangement.

 

Over the last century there has been a host of great jazz female singers including Billie Holiday, Ella FitzGerald, Sarah Vaughan and keeping the flame strong in the new millenium is the breathtaking  vocal skills of Dianne Reeves.

 

Born in Detroit and raised in Denver, Dianne Reeves was brought up in a musical family with a singer for a father, a trumpeter for a mother and the celebrated keyboardist, composer and arranger, George Duke for a cousin.

 

Taking lesson on the piano from an early age, Reeves unleashed her formidable musical skills at the tender age of 16 at the National Association of Jazz Educators convention in Chicago.

 

One of the people who caught her performance was jazz legend Clark Terry, who invited Reeves to sing with various all-star jazz groups and became the first in her long line of illustrious mentors.

 

In 1976, Reeves moved to Los Angles in 1976 and broadened her musical range working with her long time collaborator, Eduardo del Barrio and Latin fusion group Caldera and dipping into experimental jazz with pianist Billy Childs.

 

Releasing her debut album, Welcome to My Love in 1982, Reeves has spent the last two decades releasing critically acclaimed albums like Better Days, I Remember and Quiet After The Storm.

 

Over the last decade jazz music has experienced a huge resurgence and Reeves has taken her rightful place in the canon receiving Grammy for Best Vocal Performance for three consecutive recordings, In The Moment - Live in Concert, The Calling: Celebrating Sarah Vaughan and A Little Moonlight.

 

A scintillating night of jazz from of its finest exponents, Dianne Reeves plays the National Concert Hall on the 22nd of April.
