Fantomas

Fantomas, the supergroup of former Faith No More frontman Mike Patton, plays The Village on Wednesday, the 15th of June.

Fantomas is the brainchild of Mike Patton and possess one of the most eclectic catalogues of recent memory with albums like Director's Cut and Delirium Cordia

Fantomas showcase songs from their new album, Suspended Animation in the company of Terry Bozzio of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention with a debut Irish performance in Dublin in June.

Named after an anti-hero from a series of pre-WW1 French crime novels, Patton put Fantomas together in the wake of the break-up of Faith No More with Buzz Osborne of The Melvins on guitar, Trevor Dunn of Mr. Bungle on bass and Dave Lombardo from Slayer on drums.

In 1999, Fantomas released their debut album, Fantomas a wonderful homage to all things sci-fi on Patton's newly formed record label, Ipecac. Fantomas returned in 2001 with Director's Cut featuring innovative interpretations of movie themes including The Godfather, Cape Fear and Rosemary's Baby. The haunting epic one song album, Delirium Cordia arrived in 2004 with seventy minutes of pure rock noise.

Fantomas' most recent album, Suspended Animation features thirty songs that celebrate the art of cartoon composition and the month of April. With Suspended Animation, Fantomas delves into a new and recently unexplored genre, cartoon music recording a soundtrack to a 30-day calendar illustrated by Japanese artist, Yoshitomo Nara. Recorded in the 2003, Suspended Animation is described by Patton as "nursery rhymes, cartoon sound effects and choppy arrangements".

A night of unforgettable eclectic rock music, Fantomas plays The Village on the 15th.
