Bell X1, the Dublin music scene's best kept secret, plays Oxegen 2006 on Sunday, the 9th of July.
One of the most innovative and entertaining bands on the Irish rock scene, Bell X1 showcase songs from their new album, Flock with a performance at Oxegen.
The four members of Bell X1 started playing music with Damien Rice in the band, Juniper. Juniper was formed when Damien Rice, Brian Cosby, Paul Noonan and Dominic Philips were still in school in Celbridge, Co. Kildare. With David Geraghty on board, Juniper began to build a reputation for scintiallating live shows and signed a record deal.
In 1999, Damien Rice left the band to pursue a solo career and the other four members continued as Bell X1. If Damien Rice pursued the role of the sensitive songwriter, Bell X1 developed into a dynamic indie rock group. Bell X1 tested the waters with a few singles "Weatherman" and "The World is Dead" before releasing their debut album, Neither Am I.
Neither Am I was produced with the help of Nick Seymour of Crowded House and featured a host of well-crafted rock songs that were reminiscent of Radiohead's and REM's early recordings. Bell X1's follow up album, Music In Mouth followed in 2002 featuring wonderful songs like "White Water Song" and "West of her Spine".
Bell X1 spent the next few years touring to promote the album and building up a large fanbase in Ireland and around the world. Bell X1 hit the Irish charts with the hit single, "Eve, The Apple of My Eye" and toured around Europe and the U.S. with Snow Patrol and Damien Rice.
An exciting music proposition with a formidable live reputation, Bell X1 play Oxegen 2006 on Sunday, the 9th of July.
