Pharrell Williams, American pop artists and famed producer, plays Oxegen Music Festival on Sunday, the 9th of July.
After appearing at the first Oxegen with his band N.E.R.D., Pharrell Williams returns to the Oxegen Music Festival showcasing songs from his debut album, In My Mind.
Having scored hits for acts like Kelis, Dirty Ol' Bastard, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes and Nelly as one half of the hottest production team in music, The Neptunes, Pharrell Williams has finally found time to record his own musical testament.
The debut solo album, In My Mind show Williams strutting his introspective side with seven infectious slices of Rap and revealing his more sensitive side with seven perfect pieces of R&B.
The album's first single "Can I Have It Like That", featuring Gwen Stefani on a nostalgic piece of classic hip-hop, proved to be a huge hit in the pop charts and was followed by the blissed out soul of "Angel" with Williams demonstrating his sweet vocal skills over an infectious piano sample.
In My Mind features more delightful cuts with Williams trading dating stories with Jay-Z for "Young Girl", incorporating marching band drums and loud guitars for "Keep It Playa" and taking things in a Latin direction with King Daddy Yankee for "Marmacita".
Back in 1992, Pharrell Williams and his high school friends, Chad Hugo were spotted by New Jack Swing producer, Terry Riley and he enlisted Williams to write a rap verse for Wrecks-N-Effects single, "Rump Shaker". Soon, Hugo and William were building a name for themselves as the production team, The Neptunes working for Sean "Diddy" Combs and SWV.
The Neptunes became a household name in 1998 after the success of Noreaga's "Superthug" and began scoring hits for Ol'Dirty Bastard, No Doubt, Britney Spears, Nelly, NSYNC, Mary J. Blige, Kelis, Busta Rhymes, Baby Face, Justin Timberlake and Mariah Carey.
Together with Chad Hugo and childhood friend, Shay, Williams formed N.E.R.D. and released their debut album, In Search of N.E.R.D. in 2001 featuring funk rock band, Spymob and the underground hits "Lapdance" and "Rock Star". N.E.R.D. followed up with the second album, Fly or Die in 2004 featuring the hit single, "She Wants to Move".
A set of inspired R&B and Rap, Pharrell Williams plays Oxegen Music Festival on Sunday, the 9th of July.
