Steven Isserlis, world class British cellist, plays the National Concert Hall on Thursday, the 27th of October.
Critically acclaimed cellist, Steven Isserlis returns to the National Concert Hall in the company of award winning pianist Stephen Hough, to perform a series of cello sonatas written by Strauss, Brahms and Webern as part of The Irish Times Celebrity Concert Series.
Steven Isserlis is a musician whose talent exceeds conventional divisions. He has the ability to captivate and draw in his audience with his refined musicality and passion for his art.
Steven Isserlis' award-winning discography mirrors his diverse interest in repertoire. Some of his most recent recordings include Strauss's Don Quixote with the Bayerische Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra under Lorin Maazel, and Rachmaninov and Franck sonatas with Stephen Hough.
In 2004, Isserlis was Artistic Director of a highly applauded music festival dedicated to the music of Saint-Saens and was named Classical Music Artist of the Year in 2002 by Time Out.
Apart from his highly acclaimed performances of standard repertoire, in recital and with the world's finest orchestra, Isserlis is strongly committed to performing and promoting contemporary music, with a mastery for interpreting unusual and neglected works
Combining the polish of the past with the exploration of the present, Steven Isserlis plays the National Concert Hall on the 27th.
