The Presidents of the United States of America, US rock group, play Vicar Street on Sunday, the 21st of May.
The newly reunited The Presidents of the United States of America showcases songs from their recent album, Love Everybody with one of their blistering live shows in Vicar Street.
The Presidents of the United States of America blazed a trail through the US charts in the mid '90s with a host of hit singles like "Mach 5", "Peaches" and "Kitty" and three popular albums. The Presidents of the United States of America comprise the musical talents of Chris Ballew on vocals and 2-string basitar, Dave Dederer on guitar and Jason Finn on drums.
The bands debut album, The Presidents of the United States of America was recorded for $8,000 and was initially released on the indie label, PopLlama. Taken up by Columbia Records, The Presidents of the United States of America went double platinum bolster by run away hits like "Lump", "Kitty" and "Peaches".
The Presidents of the United States of America became darlings of MTV, toured the world and won bag loads of critical acclaim. Their follow-up album, II scored another chart hit, "Mach 5" and the Presidents contributed a blistering cover of "Video Killed the Radio Star" for the soundtrack of Adam Sandler's The Wedding Singer.
After such stellar success, The Presidents of the United States of America broke up in 1997 after the release of their Columbia swansong, Pure Frosting. In the intervening time, the members of the band played in a number of different groups and the three friends reconvened in 2000 to record an album, Freaked Out and Small for Internet startup, Musicblitz.com.
The Presidents of the United States of America finally gave into their fans letter and emails and began cooking up a new album in the studio, finishing fourteen new songs. One of the first tasters off the album, Love Everybody, "Some Postman" demonstrates the Presidents can still put an infectious melody behind a rocking arrangement.
