David Ford, British singer-songwriter sensation, plays The Sugar Club on Friday, the 24th of March.
Having sent all conquering singer-songwriters like David Gray and Damien Rice out into the world, Dublin hosts a new songwriting talent from England, David Ford for an intimate performance in March.
Having built up a cult following with the pop punk sound of Easyworld, David Ford struck out on his own and began writing the brave collection of songs that would become his debut album, I Sincerely Apologize For All The Trouble I've Caused.
With stirring songs like "I Don't Care What You Call Me", "State of the Union" and "If You Only Knew", Ford is like a folk singer with a punk ethos creating the kind of romantic and at times outspoken songs that made Ryan Adams and a young Bob Dylan such a hit.
Decamped in the cellar under his Lewes flat, Ford recorded most of the album at home, playing most of the instruments himself and had planned to release the record on his manager's small label.
But news of Ford's stunning live performances and startling new songs got out and when a homemade video for "State of the Union" got into the right hands a brace of record labels where chasing to sign him.
With an eye to keep creative control over his music, Ford signed to one of Britain's most respected labels and home to the work of Paul Weller, Portishead and Travis, Independiente Records.
I Sincerely Apologize For All The Trouble I've Caused was released late last year to a raft of glowing reviews while Ford built up a fervid live following with scintillating performances at Bush Hall and Dingwalls, and supports for Starsailor and Damien Dempsey.
Guaranteed to be a live experience you won't forget, David Ford plays The Sugar Club on the 24th.
