From 29th - 31st August, prepare for more anarchy, funk, nostalgia, surrealism and madness as Electric Picnic returns with its biggest and best festival yet!

As always, this fantastic rock'n'roll circus will be showcasing some of the greatest music from around the world - including ethral Icelandic post-rockers Sigur Rós, Scottish indie-kids Franz Ferdinand, rock uber-icons My Bloody Valentine (who'll be playing their first gig in seventeens year) and the FIRST EVER Irish show from punk legends The Sex Pistols!  You can check out the full confirmed line-up below, but there's sure to be even more fantastic acts announced as the weeks go on - so watch this space!

There'll also be a brand-new music stage, the form of the Improvised Music Company's Jazz & World Music Stage which promises to bring festival goers the very best in all thing acoustic, from jazz and trad to contemporary classic and traditional world music!

But, of course, there's more to electric picnic than music! The hilarious Des Bishop will once again be bringing his International Comedy Club to the festival stage for more side-splitting humour from some of Ireland's best established and up-and-coming wise-cracking smart alecs, while renowned performance art troupe, Lucent Dossier Vaudeville Cirque will return to brighten up the 'Picnic with more extravagant, other-worldly creatures. And Fossets will be back to prove why they're still Ireland's best - and longest running - circus!

There'll also be the return of poetry, debates and readings at the ever-popular Spoken Word Area,as well as the introduction a mouthwatering new Cooking Stage, where Michelin-All-Star culinary cast headlined by Rachel Allen, Dylan McGrath (Mint), Kevin Thornton (Thorntons), Derry Clarke (L'Ecrivain) will not only be doing cooking demonstrations in a purpose built kitchen tent, but debating whether life really is too short to stuff a mushroom in their exclusive Q&As!

There are some theatrical new additions to look forward too, with "thisispopbaby" - a fabulous new space, where debauched glamour, fairy tale excess and fun is the name of the game. Each day the glittering lounge will take you on a journey from a whimsical kitsch Never Never Land to a raw and raunchy Pop Art Palace. Featuring very special guest star Panti, Queen of the Picnic, this sparkling jewel of new pop-art and design culminates every night with a Frock 'n' Roll drag show and a down 'n' dirty PopClub.

And the Electric Picnic folk will be continuing (and upping the ante on) their child-friendly policy with the introduction of Family Ticket, which will give two adults and up to four children, access to a new specially designated Family Campsite. And at just €480 (the equivelant of two single tickets) it really does offer fantastic value for money.

Families should register online where, nearer the time, they can also download a small booklet outlining children's activities and programmes as well as useful information on family camping, baby changing facilities, showers, toilets, etc. The "Children's Festival" itself will have its own area and reception for babies, toddlers and children up to 12. It will be programmed with all sorts of creative workshops, kids yoga, chill out space for parents, and games.

Remember, there'll be more news, acts and other details announced in the coming weeks, so please check back for more information!
