Goldfrapp, purveyours of stylish, electronica pop, play the Oxegen 2006 on Sunday, the 9th of July.
Goldfrapp bringing their astounding live show to Oxegen showcasing the heady brew of glam pop and sensual electronica on their latest opus, Supernature.
Hailing from Bath, Allison Goldfrapp began mixing music with the visuals and performances in her installation pieces while studying at Art College. Her bewitching vocals featured on Tricky's debut, Maxinquaye and led to further collaborations with Orbital on Snivilisation and Add N to X's Avant Hard.
With a number of her own compositions completed, the singer began working with multi-instrumentalist and composer, Will Gregory under the moniker Goldfrapp. Merging the trip hop of Portishead, the avant garde pop of Bjork and the cinematic sweep of John Barry, Goldfrapp delivered an instant classis with their debut album, Felt Mountain with infectious tunes like "Human", "Lovely Head" and "Pilots".
The daring duo synthesised their influences into an intoxicating electronic sound with a subversive visual style for their next opus, Black Cherry. Mixing the cool sensuality of Marlene Dietrich with the disco fever of Donna Summer, Black Cherry caused a stir with funky new tracks like "Strict Machine", "Slippage" and" Crystalline Green".
As the band took their live show around the world, Gregory and Goldfrapp suffused their visual flair into their live act with wild cabaret craft and dancers wearing stags heads. Goldfrapp stole the show at Glastonbury, capturing the audience's imagination with a great live show in the wake of one of the hottest act in music at that time, Franz Ferdinand.
Goldfrapp's latest album, Supernature looks to the glam rock of the early '70s for inspiration with dirty guitar riffs, camp sexuality and layered vocals. Goldfrapp's first single, "Ooh La La" is a veritable homage to the classic sound of Marc Bolan and the glam theme continues with wonderful pop pieces like "U Never Know", "Lovely To See You" and "Satin Chic".
A set of electronica pop classics with a stage show that is guaranteed to shock, Goldfrapp play Oxegen on Sunday the 9th of July.
