Editors showcase songs from their debut album, The Back Room with a performance at Oxegen on Saturday, the 8th of July.
Editors were formed at Stafford University and comprise the musical talents of Tony Smith on vocals, Chris Urbanowicz on guitar, Ed Lay on drums and Russell Letch on drums. Editors settled in Birmingham in 2003 and set the local music scene alight with a post punk sound reminiscent of REM, Joy Division and Echo and The Bunnymen.
Signed to recently revamped Kitchenware Records, Editors released their debut single, "Bullets" early this year and it sold out in two days. Their next single, the short sharp, shock of "Munich" shot into the Top 20 and propelled the band on to the airwaves of Radio 6, Radio One and XFM and the pages of the NME and The Sunday Times.
Following the success of their single "Blood", Editors released their highly anticipated debut album, The Back Room. Crafted by the band with Jim Abbiss at Chapel Studios in Lincoln, The Back Room features a host of infectious new tracks like "Fall", "All Sparks" and "Someone Says".
The Back Room was a meteoric success reaching Number 2 in the album charts and a re-release of the single "Munich" in January gave the Editors their first Top Ten UK Single with critics dubbing them the band to watch in 2006.
A set of stirring indie rock songs, Editors plays Oxegen on Saturday, the 8th of July.
