The Kooks, English indie rock group, plays Oxegen on Sunday, the 9th of July.
The Kooks bring their raucous brand of rock to the capitol showcasing songs from their debut album, Inside In/Inside Out.
Hailing from Brighton, The Kooks comprise the musical talents of vocalist and guitarist Luke Pritchard, lead guitarist Hugh Harris, bassist Max Rafferty and drummer Paul Garred.
Reefing through their parents' record collections, The Kooks dip into classic British guitar music referencing punk, ska, mod and reggae to create an irreverent sound reminiscent of the Supergrass, The Jam, Blur and The Kinks.
Having been signed after their first gig, The Kooks set the UK music scene alight with their debut single, "Eddie's Gun" entering the charts at No. 35 and their follow-up release, "Sofa Song" reaching No. 28.
A year of constant touring and playing with bands like The Subways, Dead 60's and Futureheads led to a string of sold-out shows in November and a support slot with the Editors on the Levi's Ones To Watch Tour.
The Kooks' debut album, Inside In/Inside Out was greeted with a host of glowing reviews to infectious slices of indie pop like "See The World", "You Don't Love Me" and "Time Awaits".
The pace of the album mellows for the acoustic track, "Ooh La" which sees Luke Pritchard warning his ex-girlfriend, one Katie Melua, on the perils and pitfalls of fame.
Maybe Melua will have to writer as it looks like Pritchard & Co. are going to be very famous themselves as The Kooks edge ever closer to the big time.
A band on a mission to put the fun back in rock 'n' roll, The Kooks plays Oxegen on Sunday, the 9th of July.
