Do all your nights out blur into one? Do your weekends come with a serious sense of déjà vu? Fabulous Food Trails are a great way to escape your spare-time rut (your stomach will thank you too)!
Started by Eveleen and Pamela Coyle in 2004, Fabulous Food Trails began by offering weekends away to Cork, Connemara and Galway, where guests could combine the fun of short vacation with the chance to experience - and learn more about - the best in local Irish food. These weekends proved hugely popular, and they still run - catering for both groups and indivuals, and even offering tailored tours!
After the huge success of the original Food Trail weekends, Eveleen and Pamela decided to branch out into less traditionally Irish areas. In September 2006, they launched their first Culture Day - a day-long adventure in Thai cooking, led by Executive Chef Tao, of Diep Le Shaer and The Noodle bar. During these Trails, guests are not only treated to the very best in Thai Food, they're also taught how to cook up their own Thai dishes. There's also a trip to a specialist Asian Market where Tao will show guests how to search out top class Thai ingredients as well as a trip around the corner to the local Irish shop - where guests can learn what ingredients to substitute when they just can't find the real thing.
This September, Pamela and Eveleen have added two more Culture Trails to their Culture Programme - a Japanese Food Day led by top Japanese chef Yoshio Miyachi and an evening Concocting Cocktails with Award Winning Mixologist Paul Lambert - and they're planning to launch an Indian Food Day by the end of the year. So whether you're planning a weekend away, or just a night out with the girls, Fabulous Food trails are the perfect way to learn a new skill, enjoy some great food (or drink!) and, of course, do something different with your free time!
