On 9th May, make the most of casual Friday and raise funds for a good cause by donning denim for the Irish Youth Foundation!
Date: 9th May
Who doesn't love denim? It's comfy, casual and super-stylish! But did you know it can also help improve the lives of thousands of children all across the country? It's true (ish). Simply stick on your favourite denim jeans, jacket or skirt on 9th May - Denim Day - and you're one step closer to making a huge difference.
What's the other step, you ask? Well, you could always thank the Irish Youth Foundation for encouraging the whole country to step out in denim together by logging on to the Denim Day or Irish Youth Foundation websites and donating €3 by laser or credit card. You could even post the money directly to them at Denim Day, Irish Youth Foundation, 20 Lower Dominick St, Dublin 1 (if you're worried about all those coins jangling around in an envelope, I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you sent a couple of notes instead ...)
And don't worry if you're not dressed in denim, they'll appreciate the donation no matter what you're wearing (you can always make up for it at the weekend).
If you need any more incentive to log on and donate, just check out some of these sad stats from the Irish Youth Foundation:
- Ireland has the third highest rate of child poverty in developed countries.
- 119,129 children live in poverty. That's one in nine of our children
- 35,954 live in unsatisfactory accommodation
- 2,279 children living in refugee centres receive just €9.60 per week
- 492 children homeless with their families
The good news is that all proceeds from Denim Day go to support over 100 projects throughout the country enabling children living in poverty to imagine a brighter future for themselves.
I know you are.
I can see you ....
