The Museum
Entrepreneur and scholar, Sir Alfred Chester Beatty left his extraordinary collection of art and manuscripts to the Irish public after his death in 1968.
The collection now makes its permanent home at the Chester Beatty Library in the grounds of Dublin Castle. In 2002 the CBL was named European Museum of the Year, an honour that has been awarded in the past to such institutions as the Olympic Museum in Lausanne and the Bilbao Guggenheim.
As part of the public programme at the museum, visitors to can take part in a guided tour of the collection every Sunday at 15.00 and 16.00, and on Wednesdays at 13.00.
