Mario Muchnik. Literary Portraits
Literary Portraits is the first half of the photographic project Stolen Moments (Instantes Robados) from Mario Muchnik. Literary Portraits, brings us into the physical presence of creators of the stature of Rafael Alberti, Francisco Ayala, Ana María Mature, John Cage, Simone de Beauvoir, Jorge Luis Borges, Carmen Martín Gaite, Julio Cortázar, and Gabriel García Márquez, to name but a few. Smiling, perplexed, melancholic faces. Faces instilled with words. Aside from portraying the author's features, each photograph leaves an indelible trace of a meeting, capturing a single moment. Mario Muchnik has taken these portraits of authors over a period of many years, without any special lighting effects, without any additional decorations, unless at the wishes of the author.
Mario has worked as a physician in Italy, photography and editor in London, collections director at Robert Laffont editorial in Paris, founder of Muchnik Editores (Muchnik Editors) in 1973, and Head of Seix Barral (1982-1983) in Barcelona, Head of Anaya & Mario Muchnik (1991-1997) in Madrid, author of Miguel Ángel de cerca (Miguel Angel up close), Un bárbaro en París"(A barbarian in Paris), Mundo judío(Jewish world) , Einstein, and the memoirs "Lo peor no son los autores" (Authors aren't the worst) and Banco de pruebas(Test bank / Bank of samples).
