Date: 6th March - 26th April 2009
Tickets: FREE!
A rare opportunity to see the work of internationally-acclaimed Irish artist James Coleman, in Ireland's largest and most ambitious staging of his work to date. A collaboration between three of Dublin's leading cultural venues, the exhibition consists of six of Coleman's major works, two of which, Box(ahhareturnabout), 1977 and Untitled, 1998-2002, will be presented at Project Arts Centre. Coleman is known for his use of photography, projected still images with soundtracks, film, video and performance as powerful means of conveying his reflections on the meaning of image and language in his work. Although widely recognised abroad Coleman's work has not had major exposure in Ireland, a situation which this exhibition seeks to redress. The exhibition is curated by Enrique Juncosa, Director, IMMA, and is organised by the Irish Museum of Modern Art in collaboration with Project Arts Centre and the Royal Hibernian Academy.

PROJECT ARTS CENTRE SUPPORTS PEOPLE WITHOUT HISTORY
Following the success of Ode to the Man Who Kneels at Project Arts Centre last January, we have teamed up with New York City Player to co-produce their latest production People Without History, a new play written by Richard Maxwell and directed by Brian Mendes.

"In his latest work, People Without History, Richard Maxwell serves up a sci-fi take on the Battle of Shrewsbury, imagining a post-war England of forgotten dead - and bringing his hallmark humor and unstylized speech to a medieval world with memory issues. On the border of England and Wales, knights Owain, Mendace, and Rhobert stumble upon Alice, who is keen on using her womanly powers to heal their damaged psyches. In a departure for Maxwell, he hands over the directorial reins to Brian Mendes, while retaining the considerable talents of New York City Players veterans such Tory Vazquez and Jim Fletcher." People Without History is currently running from 19 March - 5 April 2009 at The Performing Garage 33 Wooster Street, New York City..
