The Bad Art Gallery
Still NOT living up to its name with a programme of exhibitions from fresh and vibrant young artists. Here's what they've got lined up 'til 2009!

"High Art", "Low Art", "Good Art", "Bad Art" - oh dear! So many labels, so little time. Why not just ignore what the critics say (the can never agree anyway) and decide what you like for yourself? That's the philosophy of The Bad Art Gallery, which aims to make art more accessible, approchable and (maybe best of all) affordable for the average punter!

It's a huge space, able to exhibit over 200 works at once, meaning you're sure to find something you like among the colourful and imaginative pieces on display. So ignore the egos, politics and "expert" opinions and rediscover the fun of enjoying art for yourself. Check out the listings below for the fantastic line-up of exhibintions between now and the end of the year:

What's on now?

The Summer Show
Date:
May - end July
Dublin's largest summer group show, featuring the works of Erin de Burca, Deborah Donnelly, Lucy Doyle and Val Byrne.

About the Artists
Erin de Burca hails from a family with a hugely creative family. She's related to, amongst others, Brendan Behan and Peader Kearney (who composed our national anthem). Erin finds inspiration in big citys, so you'll find artworkd focused on the likes of Barcelona, London, Venice, Ferrara and of course her hometown Dublin!

Deborah Donnelly's paintings are mostly studies of objects or living things. She may draw a little from French painting at the turn of the 20th Century, and even a Van Gogh, but it's her own adventurous style taht shines through in each piece.

Established contemporary Irish artist Lucy Doyle has been painting full-time since she left Art College in 1982, and enjoys seems to enjoy the quiter things in life. Her art focuses on still life, interiors, and landscapes.

Dublin-born Val Byrne studied Art and Architecture at U.C.D., NUI. He paints the landscapes of Ireland in his own particular style of watercolours and cubist oil paintings with an emphasis on recording today's built environment.
